Ranger Volunteers are the eyes and ears of the burn. Rangers are NOT security. Rangers are mediators who work with participants to work out their individual difficulties in a non-violent manner. Ranger Trainings are provided early in the event. New Rangers cannot go on a shift until after attending a Ranger Training. Ranger Volunteers move throughout the burn interacting and enjoying the burn, although a Ranger MUST BE SOBER at all times while on shift. Rangers are there to help participants in whatever capacity they are needed. If you see someone in distress or looking disoriented or anything else that triggers an alarm, check it out and see if your assistance is needed. Sometimes it can be walking an inebriated person to their camp or listening to someone who needs an ear. Rangers keep the burn safe so the participants can enjoy themselves with abandon. Shifts are 4 hours.
